RUR Greenlife Awareness Seminar

31st August, 2026 | Secondary Section

Session 1: 8:00 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. — Std. 8
Session 2: 9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m. — Std. 7

An awareness seminar on waste management and sustainable practices was conducted in the school hall by two volunteers from RUR Greenlife, Ms. Sumedha and Ms. Mahek.

The volunteers explained the importance of waste segregation through an interesting game. Students learnt about the different categories of waste, namely wet waste, dry waste and e-waste, and the importance of disposing of them correctly.

They also explained the process of composting and the conditions required to convert organic waste into useful compost.

The volunteers briefly introduced the students to the Tetra Pack Drive and explained how the Tetra Packs collected by the school can be recycled and transformed into useful products. They displayed toys and various useful items made from recycled Tetra Packs, helping students understand how waste can be given a meaningful second life.

They also explained that the recycled material can be used to make benches, which are donated to less fortunate schools.

The session was informative, interactive and engaging, inspiring students to practise proper waste segregation, recycling and other eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
