AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV

“A thoughtful mind, when it sees a nation’s flag, sees not the flag, but the nation itself.
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence.
On this occasion a host of activities and competitions were held in our school —St. Blaise High School from 10th to 17th August, 2022.


Day 1 - 10th August, 2022:
With great zeal Prabhat Pheri- a procession of students and staff was organized at our school. Our ever enthusiastic Head Mistress Rev. Sr. Bindu Joseph, Asst. H.M. Mrs. Annie Mathew, Supervisor Mrs. Shilpa Phadke, P.T. teachers, students’ council, Girl Guides, Scouts, along with other teachers and students were seen walking down the streets of Amboli shouting slogans, displaying placards, waving National Flag, and riding bicycles. This initiative would surely help to develop a sense of patriotism among the students.



Day 2 - 12th August, 2022:
Card making and Drawing competition based on the theme of Amrit Mahotsav was held for the students from grade 5 to grade 10.
Later in order to inculcate a sense of patriotism among the students and enlighten them on our National Flag –Tiranga, a short video clip elaborating the importance and making of the ‘Tiranga” was shown.

Day 3 - 13th August, 2022: ‘National Anthem and Vande Mataram’ Competition.

National Anthem competition for the students for Std. V to X was held on 13th August 2022. Preparation for the same had begun a week prior with great enthusiasm by the students and class teachers. A lot of creativity was exhibited by the students also keeping in mind the time limitation for singing the National Anthem.

‘Vande Mataram’ competition for the secondary staff members was held on the same day. Teaching, non-teaching and support staff participated in the competition.
Both the competitions were judged by esteemed ex-supervisor Mrs. Reena Mishra and ex-teacher Mrs. Lucy Rosario along with a very supportive personality Mrs. Priya Pereira, parent of ex-student.



Day 4 - 15th August, 2022:
‘Where golden birds perch on each and every branch, that’s my beloved India, that’s my beloved India!’

Independence Day was celebrated in our school with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The School campus was decorated with a rangoli at the entrance and a beautiful back drop in the hall where the programme took place. The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the guest of honour Rev. Sister Cyrilla preprimary administrator accompanied by Head Mistress Rev. Sister Bindu Joseph, A.H.M Mrs. Annie Mathew, Supervisor Mrs. Shilpa Phadke and Primary Head Teacher Mrs. Arlene Vaz along with the P.T.A. executive body.

Thereafter, a cultural programme was organized in the school hall, comprising of speech by the guest of honour Sister Cyrilla preprimary administrator, patriotic dances, patriotic songs being sung, speeches being delivered– awakening a feeling of patriotism towards the Mother Land.



Day 5–17th August, 2022:
The last and the final day of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav—Quiz Competition.

Inter-House Quiz Competition based on patriotic theme was held on 17th August. With great eagerness and keeness students of the four houses( Nehru, Sarojini, Gandhi, and Tagore) participated in the competition.

• Thus the momentous celebrations concluded in our school but not without instilling a sense of love, respect, pride and responsibility towards the Motherland-India.

• Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-a great approach and important step to revive the culture and history of India’s Independence.
